FOR MODERN brokers time is paramount. For a broker in 2025, every minute counts. The last thing they need is a bottleneck in their day-to-day business.

What followed was a detailed reconstruction project where the team examined every part of the process, stripping back the platform and rebuilding their systems from scratch.
By closely consulting with brokers, the Ubank team pinpointed the places where things were getting stuck. As a result, in the new platform they’ve been able to throttle up submission times, iron out pain points and declutter the experience for both broker and client. The result is not only speedy, but a breeze to use.
George Srbinovski, head of broker division at Ubank, explains: “Feedback is a gift! That’s why we spent considerable time listening to brokers, looking at the industry and to the future to build something quite special. A lodgement platform for brokers to work the way they work and with one goal in mind, and that’s speed to lodgement.”
As anyone knows, repeating a task can seriously hamper efficiency. When the team looked to smooth out any snags inherent in the previous system, the re-input of data was high on the list. To eliminate this, they introduced a new feature that prevents customers from having to provide data twice during the application process.
The feature works for information supplied through illion’s bankstatements.com and helps add speed during submission. Gone is the lengthy back and forth between broker and client to request the refilling of information fields. Now a customer can complete a request once and move on with their home loan.
Customer communications were also highlighted as an area that could be streamlined. So Ubank went about the job of distilling customer emails into one convenient touchpoint. Now one email becomes the centralised place for customer tasks, easing their pain of having to dig through their inbox for different forms. Through a single communication they can now complete VOI, provide consent and upload their bank statements. There’s also a check-in built into the process, with customers receiving feedback via a playback during post-submission. It’s a nifty way for them to make sure they’ve ticked all the right boxes. It all adds up to a simpler submission and a nimbler application overall.

One of the top asks from brokers during the redesign process was improved agility. To do this the team gave brokers the ability to complete tasks in any order and forge their own paths to completion. In Ubank’s newest version of its platform, pathways have been unlocked on both the broker and client side. Now both users can ‘choose their own adventure’ when lodging. It’s faster and allows for a more humanistic approach to the way applications are completed in the real world.
