“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

For Benjamin Fenley, finance strategist at Infinity Group Australia, a career in mortgage broking was meant to be.
A chance encounter at an event saw Infinity Group founder Graeme Holm deliver a life-changing talk. “At the time, I didn’t have any debt or property and had my own naïve ways of thinking that I would never own a property, which plagues younger generations today,” explains Fenley. “Because of this mindset, I was actually going to get lunch when Graeme spoke, but something about him kept me in my seat, and I watched his presentation.”
Fenley has shone since and was a finalist for the Finance Brokers Association of Australasia (FBAA) Broker of the Year for NSW/ACT 2024. His strength lies in a genuine, human approach. “I don’t show up as the stereotypical adviser in a suit and tie,” he explains. “I like to bring a bit of personality and lightness into what can often be a serious and overwhelming topic.”
That authenticity has proven especially valuable in his work with clients who have previously had negative experiences with financial institutions. “One of the biggest challenges I face in my role is overcoming the distrust that some clients bring,” he says. “Rebuilding that trust doesn’t happen overnight; it takes consistent communication, transparency and a genuine commitment to putting the client’s best interests first. I make it a priority to create a safe, judgement-free space where clients feel heard and understood.”
One of Fenley’s proudest achievements is helping a family of seven go from crisis to empowerment. Working with them for over two years, he helped clear all debt and guided them towards building a four-property investment portfolio, but the real reward was watching their five children adopt smarter financial habits. “One of their sons saved $100,000 by the age of 19,” Fenley shares. “What made this truly meaningful was the ripple effect it had within their family.”
Fenley specialises in personal finance education and long-term financial structuring, using tools and visual models to help clients clearly understand their cash flow, debt and opportunities. “I’m not just about loans,” he explains. “I help clients build financial literacy, confidence and habits that last for life.” His travel to over 80 countries has enabled him to build rapport across cultures and backgrounds.
His success in client service stems from key initiatives: upskilling support teams, increasing verified client reviews, and sharing authentic client experiences through podcasts and case studies. “We've opened up a two-way conversation with our audience. These testimonials allow potential clients to connect with us on a deeper level,” he adds.
At the heart of Fenley’s approach is a deep belief in people – their potential, their goals, and their ability to create lasting change. “I don’t see what I do as just a job,” he says. “It’s a privilege to be trusted with something as personal and important as someone’s financial wellbeing. When a client says, ‘you’ve changed my life and my family’s future’, that moment never gets old. It’s incredibly fulfilling.”
