“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

Rachael Howlett’s rise has been one of growth, grit and purposeful impact.
Now a mortgage broker and finance strategist at Infinity Group Australia, her previous role in the firm was as a relationship manager and finance support. Howlett specialises in structuring home loans to assist with rapid debt reduction, through the use of transactional home loans, and also understanding complex self-employment strategies.
“If you’d asked me in high school if I’d ever work with numbers, I would’ve laughed,” she admits. Her career at Infinity Group began after a chance meeting with co-founder Graeme Holm. “He saw something in me that he thought would be a great fit for his business,” she recalls.
That inspiration saw Howlett take a leap of faith and join Infinity in 2017. In just her first year as a broker, Howlett was named as one of Mortgage Professional Australia’s Top 100 Brokers of 2024. Yet, for Howlett, success is not measured in titles but in lives changed.
One of her proudest client stories involves a family who, after a wake-up call from a motorcycle accident, cleared all their owner-occupier debt in just 15 months. With her guidance – from loan restructuring to asset liquidation – they now own their home outright and hold four investment properties. Another client, facing a $550,000 mortgage, reduced it to $130,000 in nine months under her care. These aren’t just numbers; they’re the milestones of transformed futures.
Howlett’s strength lies in her deeply human approach. “While some might see empathy as a weakness, in my role, it’s a real strength. I’ve often shed tears in meetings because I’m truly there with my clients, feeling what they’re going through.” Her ability to simplify complex concepts without condescension is equally valued. “I don’t dumb things down; I just focus on making things clear and straightforward, understanding that finance isn’t common knowledge for everyone,” she explains.
Her journey is rooted in lived experience. Raised in a broken home, by 19, Howlett was working part-time and supporting her two younger siblings while putting herself through TAFE. Her family’s financial struggles gave her a mission. “I vowed never to end up in that same situation,” she says. “I see my work as creating a ripple effect – when I teach parents strong financial habits, they pass those lessons to their children.”
Beyond broking, Howlett empowers through education. She leads Infinity’s Money Mentor Masterclasses and co-hosts the Money Mentor podcast and regularly produces educational content for social media. These efforts not only attract clients but create a community centred on empowerment and trust.
Howlett is a strategist, an educator and a compassionate guide who listens intently and tailors precisely. “Delivering for clients means being present, proactive, and personal,” she adds. “I prioritise clear communication, timely updates and tailored solutions that align with each client's unique goals. By demystifying complex financial concepts and offering consistent support, I aim to make the mortgage process as seamless and stress-free as possible.”
