Zakee Sheriff’s rise in the mortgage broking industry is a story of transformation, opportunity and relentless dedication.
Sheriff began in customer service, where he developed the core values that would later define his success. “I never planned on getting into finance,” he admits. “But as opportunities arose, doors kept opening.” One of those doors led him to Infinity Group Australia, where he found not only a career but also a platform for continuous growth and learning.
Now as a finance strategist, his skill in thriving in new environments has proven to be one of his strongest professional qualities. “I have the ability to learn and adapt and deal with really any challenge that comes my way, and I see each challenge as something to solve,” says Sheriff. That problem-solving mindset, combined with his natural ability to simplify complex financial ideas, has made him a trusted partner for clients navigating their lending journeys.
In 2024, Sheriff’s excellence was recognised on a national level when he won The Finance Brokers Association of Australasia (FBAA) Broker of the Year award for NSW/ACT and Australia. “That was the single biggest achievement of my career,” he reflects.
At the heart of Sheriff’s success is an unwavering commitment to client outcomes. “The key has been treating each interaction as an opportunity to change someone’s life for the better,” he explains. Whether he’s helping a family buy their first home or guiding a client through a debt reduction strategy, Sheriff takes the time to understand each person’s goals and tailors a plan to match. “Sometimes clients don’t know what their deep-rooted goals are, and I understand how to extract that information.”
While Infinity Group Australia drives client acquisition through its educational masterclass model, Sheriff is laser-focused on maintaining their high standards. “The business brings the clients in,” he says. “The biggest challenge in my current role is managing high volume whilst still delivering excellent customer service and outcomes.”
Handling volume while delivering personalised service is something Sheriff navigates with a disciplined approach. “It comes down to having strong processes and the right support team around me,” he says. This structured yet flexible foundation allows him to deliver consistently high outcomes, no matter how busy things get.
Sheriff specialises in residential lending with a strong focus on debt reduction and wealth creation. His strategies aren’t just about getting loans approved – they’re designed to improve clients’ financial futures in meaningful ways. He works closely with each client to set realistic goals and build a roadmap that evolves with their life stage and ambitions.
“I treat my role like my own business within the business,” Sheriff adds. “That means ensuring that I am growing and helping others around me grow, and in doing so, producing excellent client outcomes that result in the business growing and performing.”

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
“I’ve always believed that if you love what you do, you’ll never settle, and that attitude has guided every decision I’ve made,” he adds.
That outlook continues to guide his work and reflects his broader goal of helping move the industry forward. Through his brokerage, lending company, and legal services, Ibrahim is focused on creating long-term value for his clients, his teams, and others working in the field.
