Profile
Anthony Nihill does his best work when a deal stops going to plan. As a finance strategist at Infinity Group Australia, he knows applications can fall outside policy, serviceability can tighten and lenders can decline scenarios that first looked viable.
“I have a strong ‘never give up’ mindset, particularly when it comes to helping clients achieve their goals,” he says. Rather than treating those moments as roadblocks, he treats them as problems to solve, and he would rather keep working a tough scenario until a path opens than tell a client it cannot be done.
The results of that persistence show up in what clients say afterwards. Nihill has earned more than 250 five-star reviews, which he takes as evidence that the effort put in up front shows at the other end. For a broker measured on service, it is about as direct a verdict as clients can give.
What underpins those reviews is the finance strategist’s ability to build rapport and connect with clients on a relatable, human level. Clients are frequently working through complex and sometimes stressful decisions, so putting them at ease matters to him as much as the technical detail.
Nihill avoids overly technical language, keeping the process clear and straightforward so clients feel comfortable, engaged and confident in the decisions they are making. He wants people to feel they can ask questions and be open about their situation, and that they are genuinely being heard. He sums it up simply: “That level of trust early on tends to carry through the entire relationship.”

Much of Nihill’s focus goes on setting clear, realistic expectations, since clients often arrive with assumptions about timelines, borrowing capacity or approval that lender policies and market conditions will not always support. “My approach to understanding a client’s aims is centred around asking the right questions early and really taking the time to listen, rather than jumping straight into a solution,” he says.
Nihill aims for an open, conversational discussion in which a client feels comfortable being transparent about what they want to achieve, whether that is buying a property, investing or improving their position. “Where this becomes challenging is balancing the need to deliver a high level of service, while also being direct and realistic about what is achievable,” he says.
Broking was not the plan when Nihill started out. “I didn’t always have a clear plan to become a mortgage broker,” he says. He spent time exploring different roles before a broker support position revealed a natural affinity for the work. He has not tied himself to a single niche since, preferring the broad, adaptable skill set that a wide range of client scenarios demands.
What holds his client relationships together is consistency: delivering the outcome agreed at the outset and keeping communication clear throughout. This straightforward formula is what brings borrowers back and prompts them to refer others and one that has quietly built a client base willing to vouch for him.
