Profile
Benjamin Fenley does not measure his career in settlement figures, but in the lives that those figures change.
“My approach comes with genuine care, as these are people’s lives and the decisions they make can ripple through generations,” says the wealth strategist at Infinity Group Australia.
His proudest achievement is exactly that kind of ripple: not a single deal, but families whose financial turnaround reached their children. He points to one family he worked with who paid off their home loan and turned their financial position around, freeing them to build an investment portfolio.
What stayed with him most from the experience is not what the parents achieved but what the lessons their children absorbed along the way. Having watched the strategy work at home, one of their kids saved hard through multiple jobs and bought a first investment property, and the example set the siblings on the same path.
The story captures how Fenley sees his job. Rather than act as a transactional, one-and-done mortgage provider, he builds his practice around ongoing education and free content that helps clients reduce bad debt and grow their wealth.
He wants clients to understand not just what they are doing but why, so much so that he counts it a success when a client can explain the strategy back to him – knowing that they can carry into their own family’s financial decisions for years.
Steadiness is a large part of what makes that possible. “I have a pretty quiet nature and rarely get stressed,” Fenley shares. Staying calm and patient is how he puts people at ease through decisions as important as buying an investment property or restructuring their finances.

As a founding member of WOW! (Women. Opportunity. Winning.), an employee resource group created for all women of Ryan Specialty, Phillips Topping has long championed for women in the industry.
“It’s very important to set an example and to not only inspire but mentor other females,” she adds.
In addition to her sharp marketing eye, the key to Phillips Topping’s success lies in her high-energy approach and positive attitude.
“As the leader of a team, it’s important to motivate and encourage your team members. People work very hard and do their best and it’s important to recognize these efforts. For my career overall, my attitude has been one of curiosity. The more you can learn, the better you’ll understand the business, and then the deeper your knowledge will become, making you a better team member.”

Before any numbers come into it, he likes to spend real time on the first call and meeting to get to know a client and what makes them tick. The care also shows in small, consistent habits, like returning every call the same day. “I know how it feels to get poor service and to feel out of control, and I never want a client to feel that way,” he says.
Fenley completed two finance degrees without ever considering broking as a career. It took a chance outing in 2019, where he watched his present employer and mentor, Graeme Holm, speak on stage alongside Richard Branson, to change his mind. Within two days he had found an Infinity role advertised on Seek, landed it and moved into lending nine months later.
Fenley now leads a team alongside his own client work, balancing client team and mentorship. He leans on efficient meetings and time-blocking to protect his focus for the bigger tasks.
What sets Fenley apart as a wealth strategist in Sydney and a mortgage broker in the Northwest is that he educates and empowers clients rather than selling to a rate, encouraging them to pay their home loans down fast. As their borrowing power grows, many come back to invest again, and he has built a space where active clients share wins and budgeting tips, a community taking control of its financial future.
