Profile
Dean Naylor has made his name on the deals that are not straightforward. When a file involves a tricky income structure, a self-managed super fund (SMSF) or a thorny policy issue, he is the broker clients turn to, and by his account he has settled deals that others could not get done. The finance strategist at Infinity Group Australia counts the trust that reputation has earned him as his biggest achievement.
Naylor did not start with a rigid plan. He got into finance wanting to help people make better decisions, and broking clicked once he had real exposure to lending and property. From there, he set about getting good technically, working around strong operators and building the reputation for getting deals done that now precedes him.
“A lot of brokers can do the simple stuff, but I’m comfortable in scenarios where things aren’t straightforward,” Naylor says. His strongest quality is the ability to take a complex scenario and turn it into a clear, workable solution, breaking a problem down quickly and giving clients a straight path forward. Doing that keeps a deal moving and builds a lot of trust.

Rather than tie himself to a single market, Naylor works largely in complex territory: SMSF lending, investors building out portfolios, first home buyer loans and deals with non-standard income or policy hurdles. For the Gold Coast-based finance strategist, it is less about a particular niche than about handling situations where the deal is not simple, which is where he believes he adds the most value.
The way Naylor works is ownership-driven and results-focused. “If a client comes to me, I see it through properly. No shortcuts, no passing the buck,” he says. He keeps things direct, starting with the right questions and listening to what a client wants short and long term, then maps a clear path and structures the deal around their goals rather than simply what a lender will approve. Managing volume and complexity at once is the constant test, and he meets it with strong process, clear structure on every file, tight communication and a team he leans on when a deal demands it.
Most of Naylor’s business as a mortgage broker comes from referrals and repeat clients, and he puts that down to results rather than chasing leads. “If you consistently get deals done, especially the harder ones, people talk,” he says. For him, a satisfied client got clarity and certainty, not just a loan. They understood the plan, the risks and the outcome from the start, with no surprises along the way.
For all the complexity he takes on, Naylor sums up his edge in plain terms. “I do what I say I’m going to do, keep clients informed and follow things through,” he says. He believes it is that combination, reliability deal after deal and a comfort in the situations others find too hard, that ultimately sets him apart.
