Josh Bartlett, managing director of Mynt Financial, has been in the broking industry for 12 years and settled over $2bn in loans. A success in his own right, he has grown an amazing team and business.
“Josh has earned credibility in the mortgage broking space by being in the top 1% of brokers in Australia,” says Kristy Bartlett, the company’s co-director and head of partnerships. “He has won over 50 industry awards for both customer service and volume. There aren’t too many people who can make 60–70 calls a day like Josh, so he is very inspiring to work alongside. I think he has set an extremely high bar for his team in going the extra mile for his clients.”
Kristy joined the business in 2022 to help take it to the next level. She was also the business owner of a successful real estate franchise and worked in the corporate world in a national role in productivity and performance for a major aggregator, helping brokers grow and streamline their businesses. Now that Josh and Kristy are working together, big things are expected as their combined skills make Mynt Financial a business to watch.
“Kristy brings a whole new dimension to the office with her diverse background, which has certainly been a huge help in building Mynt Financial,” says Josh. “Having been in the real estate and finance business for 25 years, the process of buying a house and financing homes is something she knows only too well. The team loves her knowledge of real estate and property, which is also a real help to Mynt customers. Kristy’s warmth and enthusiastic approach to business is a draw card for the team; she is constantly looking at ways they can bring in technology and automation to the office to make their day run smoother and improve the customer experience.”
The Mynt Financial team works in specialist roles and has become proficient in its areas of expertise, which include dealing with first home buyers, investors, construction loans, complex deals, refinancing, commercial finance and asset finance. It also has weekly training sessions and excellent relationships with business development managers to make sure they are aware of all changes and policies. With the heavy work volume they have to manage, which could be over 50 applicants every month, the team gets to see many different scenarios, so they are highly skilled in finding solutions for customers.
Mynt Financial’s office has a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The newly renovated Bayside office features a great meeting room space for video calls, casual working areas and workstations, a boardroom, not to mention a mini basketball court and table tennis equipment to burn off some energy when the employees need a break.
Mynt Financial is built on referrals, not just word of mouth and Google reviews. It has over 350 five-star reviews, but a substantial number of customers are referred by real estate agents. In fact, the business has over 100 agents who use its service to help customers get financially ready for auctions and also provide pre-approvals and even second opinions to ensure that they are with the right lender and product. Agents love working with Josh and the team because they know their vendors and buyers are well cared for as the team works overtime to ensure deadlines are met.
Mynt Financial has also partnered with some terrific businesses, including conveyancers, financial planners and buyers’ agents, and works alongside prestigious national builder Porter Davis, servicing all its new-build customers as their preferred finance partner.
The Mynt team talks to over 150 new customers every month. Although not all are ready to get a loan right away, the company guides people and helps them with their future financial journey, whether this is saving for a deposit with the Mynt Savers program or just getting their finances in order to be in a position to take out a loan or refinance in the future.
A huge part of what Mynt does is save people time and money by navigating the world of mortgages. The company is obsessed with repricing, finding lower rates and loan products that match its clients’ needs, and restructuring a loan to benefit the customer.
One of Mynt Financial’s leading initiatives over the past few years has been its investment in the First Home Buyer Program: Mynt Savers. While most banks and brokers only like to meet and spend time with clients who are ready now, the company’s vision is to get everyone on the track to purchasing their first home. The customers meet with a Mynt Savers coach, get their very own app to work out income, expenses and their target deposit goal, and then the coach works with them to keep them accountable and on track with live data and feeds. The program helps the customers achieve their dream of buying a home.
“Technology would be key to making us stand out,” says Kristy. “Our client and referral portal helps us manage our business tightly, leveraging full transparency to ensure service levels are met. The business loves automation, keeping clients and referral partners updated and has embraced video and a paperless way of operating.”
“We continue to see cyber as a key opportunity and will be further developing customer-centric solutions across various geographies and segments in line with our growth aspirations”
