After selling Time Home Loans in 2021, Ruan and Kylie Burger began constructing the Broker Journal™. It was the culmination of the many and varied behaviours, routines and habits that formed the engagement model they honed with clients during their years as business owners.
“The Broker Journal™ is like a gym membership – great for the ones that commit, show up and engage. Knowledge isn’t power, but applied knowledge is,” says Ruan.
Ruan Burger landed on Australian soil in 2005 and quickly forged a career in the finance industry, climbing into Australia’s Top 100 Brokers in the first two years of business.
During his career, Ruan built two successful businesses – one in Gladstone and the second in Brisbane. Both businesses attracted numerous accolades and awards.

The Broker Journal™ is a mindset tool endorsed through the MFAA and FBAA. It is intended for individual growth through weekly motivation and empowerment; it encourages you to challenge yourself and develop your circle of influence, and assists you in building your arsenal. The word on the street is it’s the exercise program for finance professionals.
With interest flowing in from all over the country and stretching over most aggregation models, Ruan and Kylie began developing coaching programs in response to specific challenges faced by members of the mortgage industry – programs that target individual circumstances and counter them with innovative and real-time approaches.
“Our focus over the next year is our State of Play Program, Pathway to Growth Program, Proventus Program, and our exciting new REACH Program that will see our newest S&B team member, Denise Roach, offering yet another dimension to leadership and management through team and individual development tools,” says Kylie Burger.
Denise will bring a new, game-changing element to the Success&Broker team, utilising her vast experience as a trainer in the corporate sector (30 of those years at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia) to support Success&Broker clients.
“Life and learning is not something you can ‘set and forget’,” Denise says. “The REACH Program is for those who need to retain, sustain and improve performance. It’s for those who step into a leadership role to learn how to empower their team to make great choices, work ethically and happily, and help their team grow professionally. It’s intended for medium to large businesses.”
They say the world is experiencing a ‘Great Resignation’, but like most things in life, if you plan for a goal and put energy around it, it’s more likely you will succeed. Creating a safe and happy work culture where people are encouraged to become better versions of themselves could in fact stall the effects of the Great Resignation. Success&Broker’s programs will help you spell out the culture you want to see and put a strategy together for making it happen.

Kylie says it is the nature of humans to create. To create skyscrapers, towns, houses, roads, businesses, memories, families.
“It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the daily grind of creating business and wealth, and by the demands of family. It might be more skewed towards time and outcomes, or it may be more skewed towards feelings and moments; managing the busyness really comes down to you and your family,” she says. “Our Pathway Program is the beginning of this union. It comes down to finding the balance to allow for future growth. When you’re ready for brand and identity, start pushing yourself to reflect and fulfil your growth potential and future vision through strategising your moves. It’s intended for one-man bands and small brokerages.”
